Documenting the City: Journalism Inspired by Edith Evans Asbury

In 2018-2019 a group of photography and English students worked closely with faculty mentors to draw inspiration from journalists past and present, particularly Edith Evans Asbury who wrote for the metro desk at the New York Times for three decades. Her papers are housed at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives and these students are the first researchers to ever access them. This volume showcases a robust collection of deeply researched, edited, and thoughtful writing and photography by our students. The project unites archival work and public engagement with the people and neighborhoods of New York City.
